Qué es y por qué mueve el oro, el dólar, el Nasdaq y el bitcoin
The Bureau of Labor Statistics Producer Price Index tracks the average change in selling prices received by domestic producers. The headline series is final demand, split across goods, services, and construction.
A hotter PPI print is generally read as upward pressure on later consumer prices and on interest rates. That can firm the US dollar and weigh on gold, the Nasdaq, and bitcoin through the same rate channel as CPI. A cooler print is generally read the other way. Goods prices are often an energy story. Services prices map more closely onto core inflation. This is how the release is used. It is not a forecast of the next print and not a recommendation to buy or sell.

PPI measures what producers receive. CPI measures what consumers pay. PPI leaves out imports and sales taxes and sits earlier in the pricing chain. The two can diverge when firms absorb costs instead of passing them on.
