Story of the Day: Brent Holds $100 After a $101.94 High
The live tape is still crude. West Texas Intermediate is near 96 dollars (Investing.com about 96.29 as of 07:41 UTC; WSJ 95.77 at 02:55 Eastern; MarketWatch 95.83), a hold near Wednesday's 96.07 settlement after an overnight high at 97.79. Range today about 95.39 to 97.79. Brent tagged 101.94 dollars (Malay Mail, Business Times), then sat near 100.40 to 101.40 (Reuters 101.4; AP 100.39; CNBC TV18 101.69).
Asian cash took the inflation impulse. Hong Kong's Hang Seng fell 1.5 percent to 24,909.58. Australia's S&P/ASX 200 slipped 1.2 percent to 8,804. MSCI's Asia-Pacific gauge dropped about 0.8 to 1.0 percent. President Trump said oil prices will not come down until after the November midterms. Iran said it is ready for a more intense war. Traders watching Wednesday's 96.07 WTI settlement and overnight's 97.79 high. A slip back through Tuesday's 93.03 settlement would fade the strike premium. These are observations, not instructions.
- WTI ~$96 after a $97.79 high; Brent tagged $101.94, then ~$100.40-$101.40
- Range today about $95.39-$97.79; Wednesday WTI settlement was $96.07

ECB Hike and US PPI Land Today
Frankfurt prints first. The ECB decision is due at 12:15 UTC, with the press conference at 12:45 UTC. Futures have priced a 25-basis-point move that would take the deposit rate to 2.50 percent, the second hike since the US-Iran war began. Euro-area August inflation sits at 3.3 percent, a three-year high. That is the consensus map, not a call.
US producer prices follow at 12:30 UTC. Economists look for August headline PPI up 0.4 percent month on month after a flat July, core up 0.3 percent, and headline year on year near 5.3 percent from 4.7 percent. China already printed August PPI at 3.8 percent on Wednesday. The pass-through sits on Friday's CPI. Oracle and Adobe report after the US close, with consensus near 19.13 billion dollars and 1.74 dollars of adjusted EPS for Oracle, and 6.69 billion dollars and 6.08 dollars for Adobe.
- 12:15 UTC: ECB, fully priced for a hike to a 2.50% deposit rate
- 12:30 UTC: US August PPI, consensus +0.4% MoM, core +0.3%, YoY ~5.3%
- Euro-area August inflation 3.3%; China PPI already 3.8%
- After the close: Oracle (~$19.13B, $1.74 EPS) and Adobe (~$6.69B, $6.08 EPS)
Gold Holds $4,413 After Wednesday's Bounce
Spot gold is near 4,413 dollars (TradingView 4,412.620 as of September 10; Reuters via Moneycontrol 4,414.28 at 04:19 UTC), a hold of the 4,400 handle after Wednesday evening's 4,397. Session range 4,389.74 to 4,435.05. The metal is bidding a softer dollar even as the 10-year settled 4.84 percent on Wednesday. CME FedWatch still assigns about a 60 percent chance of a September hike. Traders watching 4,400 as the reclaimed reference. A reclaim of Wednesday's 4,434 high would repair more of last week's fade. A slide back through Tuesday evening's 4,358 would deepen it. These are technical reference points, not instructions.
- Gold ~$4,413; TradingView $4,412.620 as of September 10
- Range $4,389.74-$4,435.05; bounce from Wednesday evening ~$4,397
- 10-year settled 4.84%; September hike odds still about 60%
- Key reference: $4,400; a break of Tuesday evening $4,358 would resume the fade
Crypto: Bitcoin Slips to $78,080
Digital assets faded the Wednesday bounce. Bitcoin is near 78,080 dollars (TradingView 78,080 as of 08:00 UTC; CoinMarketCap about 78,290 at 07:04 UTC), a slip from Wednesday evening's 78,250 and Wednesday morning's 79,155. The 80,000 reclaim still has not printed. Ether is near 2,472 dollars (TradingView 2,471.7; CoinMarketCap about 2,474 to 2,477). Live levels sit on the ThriveInMarkets homepage. Bullish trigger remains a reclaim of 80,000 dollars, then last Thursday's 82,000 area. Bearish trigger: a slip through 75,000. These are reference points, not instructions.
- Bitcoin ~$78,080; TradingView $78,080 as of September 10
- Fade from Wednesday evening ~$78,250 and Wednesday morning $79,155
- Ether ~$2,472, near Wednesday evening's ~$2,468
- BTC bullish trigger: reclaim $80,000 then $82,000; bearish: a break of $75,000
What's Next: Oracle, Adobe, Then Friday CPI
Three scenarios frame the session, not a recommendation. In a contained-oil path, WTI slips back through Wednesday's 96.07 settlement and ES leans on 7,636.46. In a hot-oil path, a hold above overnight's 97.79 WTI high, or Brent through today's 101.94 high, would add another inflation impulse into PPI and Friday CPI. In a gold-repair path, a hold of 4,400 then a reclaim of 4,434 would confirm overnight buyers. Traders watching 7,636.46 as the cash reference. Bullish trigger: a reclaim of Tuesday's 7,673.52, then Friday's 7,718.60. Bearish trigger: a slide through Wednesday's 7,624.16 low. Docket: week-ahead note. Calendar: calendar.
- Today: ECB hike (fully priced to 2.50%), US PPI, Oracle and Adobe after the close
- Friday 12:30 UTC: August CPI, the print Waller tied to his September vote
- S&P bullish trigger: reclaim 7,673.52 then 7,718.60; bearish: a slide through 7,624.16
- Oil key reference: WTI $96.07 settlement and overnight $97.79 high
