Story of the Day: Oil Jumps After Pipeline Damage Lands
West Texas Intermediate is near 102.66 dollars (WSJ 102.66; MarketWatch 102.60), up about 2.6 percent from Friday's 100.05 settlement after a 103.60 high. Range today about 101.59 to 103.60. Brent is near 107.25 to 107.95 dollars after Sunday's print through 108, a level not seen since May.
The Guardian published Vantor satellite frames of a pumping station in al-Mesabaah, charred after drone strikes that forced Riyadh to halt the line. The route had been moving about 4 million barrels a day, roughly 4 percent of global supply, to Yanbu while Hormuz stayed disrupted. Industry sources told Reuters Yanbu now has five to seven days of export stocks. Oman postponed a Monday Gulf-Iran meeting. A merchant vessel was hit in the strait on Sunday. Traders watching Friday's 100.05 WTI settlement and today's 103.60 high. A slip back through 100.05 would fade the strike premium. These are observations, not instructions.
- WTI ~$102.66 after a $103.60 high; Friday settlement was $100.05
- Brent ~$107.25-$107.95 after Sunday's print through $108
- East-West line offline; Yanbu stocks about 5-7 days; Oman talks postponed
- Key reference: Friday $100.05 and today's $103.60 high

Japan's Nikkei 225 closed 63,492.99, down 0.81 percent (Nikkei Indexes), a six-week low. South Korea's Kospi lost 2.5 percent to 6,739.68. Hong Kong's Hang Seng rose 0.3 percent to 24,886.81. Nasdaq-100 futures followed the Tokyo AI names lower. This is the second tape of the morning, not a substitute for oil.

- SoftBank about -11% after Altman ruled out a 2026 IPO

Gold Slips to $4,322 Into an 87% Hike Strip
Spot gold is near 4,322 dollars (TradingView 4,322.120 as of September 14; Twelve Data 4,321.90), a fade from Friday's close near 4,349. Range about 4,317 to 4,355. Oil-driven inflation fears and the 87 percent hike strip did the work. Traders watching 4,349 then 4,400 as the repair map. A slide through Friday's 4,292 area would resume last week's fade. These are technical reference points, not instructions.
- Gold ~$4,322; TradingView $4,322.120 as of September 14
- Fade from Friday close ~$4,349; range about $4,317-$4,355
- 10-year ~4.95-4.97% Friday; September hike odds about 87%
- Key reference: $4,322; a break of Friday's $4,292 area would resume the fade

Bitcoin is near 77,661 dollars (TradingView 77,661 as of 08:00 UTC; CoinMarketCap about 77,554 to 77,663), up about 1 percent and still below 80,000 after last week's 462.7 million dollars of spot bitcoin ETF outflows. Ether is near 2,516 dollars (TradingView 2,516.4). The Senate votes Tuesday at 18:15 UTC on cloture on the motion to proceed to H.R. 3633, the Clarity Act. It needs 60 votes. It is not final passage. Live levels sit on the ThriveInMarkets homepage. Bullish trigger remains a reclaim of 80,000 dollars. Bearish trigger: a slip through 75,000. These are reference points, not instructions.

What's Next: Canada CPI, Then Clarity Act and FOMC
Canada CPI lands at 12:30 UTC, seen 3.0 percent year on year after 3.0 percent. Tuesday brings China activity, UK labour, and Clarity Act cloture at 18:15 UTC. Wednesday is US retail sales at 12:30 UTC, then the FOMC at 18:00 UTC with Chair Kevin Warsh at 18:30 UTC. Docket: calendar.
Three scenarios frame the session, not a recommendation. In a contained-oil path, WTI slips back through Friday's 100.05 settlement and ES leans on 7,656.98. In a hot-oil path, a hold above today's 103.60 WTI high, or Brent through 108, would add another inflation impulse into Wednesday. In an AI-safety path, Nasdaq-100 futures weakness persists into the US cash open. Traders watching 7,656.98 as the cash reference. Bullish trigger: a reclaim of 7,673.52, then 7,718.60. Bearish trigger: a slide through Thursday's 7,591.70.
- Today 12:30 UTC: Canada CPI, consensus about 3.0% YoY
- Tuesday 18:15 UTC: Clarity Act cloture; Wednesday 18:00 UTC: FOMC
- S&P bullish trigger: reclaim 7,673.52 then 7,718.60; bearish: a slide through 7,591.70
- Oil key reference: WTI Friday $100.05 and today's $103.60 high
