As flagged in last night's evening review, the S&P 500 closed 7,764.70, West Texas Intermediate last printed about 95.80 dollars, and Bitcoin last printed about 86,941 dollars. Overnight, crude reversed that fade and gold slipped. West Texas Intermediate October futures are near 97 dollars on expiry day. Overnight E-mini December futures are near 7,837. Bitcoin is near 85,350 dollars. Trump addresses the UN later Tuesday. AutoZone reports before the US cash open. Japan remains shut through Wednesday. US cash opens 13:30 UTC. This is the morning scorecard, not an instruction.
The Setup: Overnight ES Near 7,837
The S&P 500's last cash print remains Monday's 7,764.70, up 1.49 percent (MarketWatch, Associated Press, Barron's). Range 7,691.19 to 7,779.22. The Nasdaq Composite closed 27,122.09, an all-time closing high. The Dow closed 52,048.83. US cash has not opened. Figures below are Monday close plus overnight futures. E-mini S&P 500 December futures are near 7,837 as of about 08:00 UTC, labeled overnight futures (MarketWatch 7,837.00, up 0.04 percent from a 7,833.50 settlement; CNBC about 7,834.25). Overnight range 7,829.00 to 7,840.00. Nasdaq-100 futures are little changed. Dow futures are flat. The 10-year last printed about 4.95 percent (Reuters 4.951 overnight).
Monday's cash high at 7,779.22 sits about 0.5 percent under the August 13 record at 7,816.70. December futures trade at a premium to cash; the 7,840 print is the contract, not a new cash high. Traders watching 7,764.70 as the cash reference. Bullish trigger: a hold through 7,764.70 toward 7,779.22, then 7,816.70. Bearish trigger: a slide through Monday's 7,691.19 low, then Friday's 7,650.50.
- S&P Monday close 7,764.70; overnight ES futures ~7,837
- Nasdaq closed 27,122.09, a record; Dow closed 52,048.83
- ES range 7,829.00-7,840.00; 10-year overnight ~4.95%
- Figures above are Monday close plus overnight futures; cash opens 13:30 UTC
Story of the Day: Oil Snaps Four-Day Slide
West Texas Intermediate October futures are near 97 dollars (MarketWatch 97.00 at 03:17 EDT, up 1.27 percent; Reuters 97.12, up 1.40 percent; ICE 97.40), a bounce from Monday's 95.78 settlement. Overnight range 95.29 to 97.42. Brent is near 102 dollars (MarketScreener 101.99, up 1.6 percent; Reuters 101.73), snapping a four-day losing streak, the first gain in a week (Bloomberg). November WTI last printed about 93.25 dollars. The October contract expires today.
The bounce is a diplomacy fade, not a demand print. Dow Jones, via MarketScreener, said hopes for US-Iran talks at this week's UN meeting were cooling. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres told reporters a serious dialogue "probably" would take place somewhere other than New York. Trump still addresses the General Assembly later Tuesday and has left open a meeting with Iran's Masoud Pezeshkian. No formal confirmation has printed. Traders watching 97.00 as the live October reference. A reclaim of Friday's 100.30, then last week's 106.75 high, would restore the strike premium. A hold through today's 95.29 low would keep the fade intact into the roll.
- WTI October ~$97.00 after Monday's settlement $95.78; range $95.29-$97.42
- Brent ~$102, first gain in a week; November WTI ~$93.25
- Guterres played down New York talks; Trump still speaks at the UN later Tuesday
- Key reference: Monday $95.78 and Friday's $100.30; October expiry today

That is a hold above 7,100 after Monday's 7,007.72. Samsung Electronics rose about 2.83 percent. SK hynix added about 3.59 percent. Samsung Electro-Mechanics jumped about 8.3 percent. The later print pared as oil bounced.
Taiwan's Taiex closed about 0.2 percent higher after a record intraday high (Dow Jones). Hong Kong's Hang Seng last printed about 0.6 percent higher near 25,185 (Associated Press). Tencent jumped about 4.6 percent. Alibaba added about 2.2 percent. Japan remains shut through Wednesday and reopens Thursday into the White House talks. Catch up: week-ahead docket. Gold Fades to $4,300; Bitcoin Holds $85,350
Spot gold is near 4,300 dollars (Kitco 4,299.50 at 03:59 ET, down 1.00 percent, range 4,298.70 to 4,376.90; TradingView 4,324.340 as of September 22; Reuters 4,322.56), a further fade from Monday's about 4,341 and Friday's close near 4,378. Traders watching 4,300 then Monday's 4,341. A slide through Kitco's 4,298.70 low would extend last week's fade.
Bitcoin is near 85,350 dollars (TradingView 85,352, down 1.57 percent; CoinMarketCap about 85,230 to 85,470), a fade from Monday's about 86,941 and from an intraday high near 87,227. The 80,000 and 82,000 levels from yesterday morning still hold. Ether is near 2,725 dollars (TradingView 2,724.7), down from Monday's 2,796. BTC bullish trigger: a hold of 85,350 dollars, then Monday's 86,941. Bearish trigger: a slip through 82,000, then 80,000.

What's Next: AutoZone, Williams, Then Trump-Xi
AutoZone reports before the US cash open. KB Home reports after the close. The Richmond Fed manufacturing survey prints at 14:00 UTC. New York Fed President John Williams and Fed Vice Chair Philip Jefferson speak later Tuesday. US cash opens at 13:30 UTC. Flash PMIs print Wednesday. Trump-Xi is Thursday. Costco reports Thursday after the close. Docket: calendar.
Three scenarios frame the session, not a recommendation. In a contained-oil path, WTI holds the bounce through 97.00 without reclaiming 100.30 and ES leans on Monday's 7,764.70 into AutoZone and Williams. In a diplomacy path, a Pezeshkian or tariff-truce headline would keep crude bidless and chips bid into Thursday. In a scare path, a Hormuz or rare-earth headline would reclaim 100 and test Monday's 7,691.19 low. Bullish trigger: a hold through 7,764.70 toward 7,779.22, then the 7,816.70 record. Bearish trigger: a slide through Monday's 7,691.19 low, then Friday's 7,650.50.
- Today: AutoZone before the open; Richmond Fed 14:00 UTC; Williams and Jefferson speak; 13:30 UTC: US cash open
- Wednesday: flash PMIs. Thursday: Trump-Xi, Costco after the close
- S&P bullish trigger: hold through 7,764.70 toward 7,779.22; bearish: a slide through 7,691.19
- Oil key reference: WTI $97.00; Friday's $100.30 still unrepaired; October expiry today
