The S&P 500's last cash print remains Friday's 7,722.72, up 0.73 percent (Associated Press via WTOP, Reuters). Range 7,700.51 to 7,754.67. The August 13 record at 7,816.70 remains unrepaired. The Nasdaq Composite closed 27,190.86 (+1.2 percent). The Dow closed 51,176.96 (+0.5 percent). E-mini December futures are near 7,764, labeled overnight futures (MarketWatch 7,764.00 from a 7,777.25 settlement, range 7,761.50 to 7,793.00). The 10-year eased to about 5.26 percent from Friday's 5.28 percent. October hike odds sit near 18 to 22 percent, down from about 64 percent a week ago. Story of the Day: Nikkei Tags 70,000
Tokyo did the overnight work. The Nikkei 225 opened 69,113.74, tagged 70,072.13, and closed 69,946.86, up 1,637.40 points or 2.40 percent (Yahoo Japan, Kabutan). That is the first print above 70,000 in three months (Associated Press). Friday's close was 68,309.46. Tokyo Electron gained about 5.5 percent and SoftBank about 3.3 percent in the morning bid. The 52-week high remains June 22's 72,831.73.
Hong Kong stayed thin. Mainland China is shut through Golden Week until October 8. The Hang Seng opened 23,963, ran to a low near 23,835, and last printed about 23,952 at midday, down 0.08 percent (RTHK, Reuters). Hang Seng Tech was up about 0.3 percent. Kingboard Laminates jumped about 9 percent and Lenovo about 5 percent. HSBC and Standard Chartered each lost more than 1 percent. Korea is shut.

West Texas Intermediate November futures last printed about 89.89 dollars (MarketWatch 89.89, down 1.34 percent from Friday's 91.11 settlement, range 89.60 to 91.88). FT printed 90.17. Reuters printed 90.12 at 0240 GMT. Tuesday's 94.74 high remains the scare marker. Brent is near 101.35 dollars, off Friday's 102.25 settlement. G7 leaders agreed Friday to release 100 million barrels of diesel and crude over four months, diesel front-loaded inside 20 days. Reuters said Middle East crude exports rose above pre-war levels in four of seven days late last week. A slip through today's 89.60 low would extend the unwind toward Friday's 88.06.
